Day 14.

This one is called Pico the Parrot #1.

This is where it all started. Not the book, not the Kickstarter — the comic strip. The very first Pico the Parrot strip, hand-drawn, four panels, one banana.

The premise is simple. Pico sees a banana. Ella says no. Pico takes the banana anyway. Stooge suffers.

This is not fiction. This is journalism. This happens at least three times a week. The only creative liberty taken was making Stooge’s hair look intentional.

The strip came first. Before the adventure book, before the prints, before any of it — there was a parrot, a banana, and a man who thought he was in charge. The book grew out of these strips. The whole Pico universe started here, in four panels on a piece of paper.
