Twenty-eight days. Twenty-eight images. One very confident parrot.
Starting today, I’m releasing one piece of Pico the Parrot artwork every day for 28 days — running right up to the close of our Kickstarter campaign on July 5th.
We’re calling it 28 Days of Pico.
Each image is from the world Pico and I have been building together — which is to say, the world Pico has been building and I have been illustrating, because he is very clear about who is in charge.
We start where it always starts: with Pico himself.
This is Pico the Parrot — the illustration that started the whole thing. Yellow-naped amazon. Ocean Beach local. Self-appointed mascot of Ocean Beach Elementary School. The bird who made me pick up a pen and start drawing a comic strip, which led to a book, which led to a Kickstarter, which led to this post.
He is very pleased with himself. He usually is.
